Cybersecurity Awareness Month

Every year in October, the Office of Information Security runs a unique campaign for Cybersecurity Awareness Month! Each week is filled with activities and resources to enhance the university community’s cybersecurity knowledge. If you suspect a security incident, report it immediately through the IT Service Desk, available 24/7.

Email Phishing

If you suspect an email is phishing, use the Report button in Outlook. To verify whether an email is phishing, forward the suspected message to phishcatcher@northeastern.edu to investigate.

New sensitivity labels coming to Microsoft 365 applications soon

In the coming weeks, faculty and staff will notice new sensitivity labels in the toolbar of most Microsoft 365 applications. This includes everyday tools such as Word, OneDrive, SharePoint, Teams, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Cybercriminals continue to evolve their tactics when it comes to finding ways to access accounts and private information.  Email compromise attacks are perhaps one of the most rewarding techniques for hackers.
