Consultation Support
Submit a consultation request for Privacy, Research Security, and Security Training. A member of the appropriate program team will follow up with you on your request.
Privacy Consultation
Protecting privacy is a top priority in Northeastern. Get in touch with the Office of Information Security to review concerns or questions regarding data privacy.
Research Security Consultation
Work with the Office of Information Security to review your research project. Get help with data management plans, tool selection, or answers to general questions.
Custom Security Training Request
Request dedicated security training for your department or team. Collaborate with the Office of Information Security to define your needs and desired outcomes.
Security Training
The Office of Information Security team provides educational resources and training to support the university’s mission to protect data.
Security Awareness Training
All faculty and staff are required to complete a training module, Security Essentials, on an annual basis through the university’s security education platform, Proofpoint. This module focuses on current threats and information relevant to Northeastern’s highly mobile global university community.
Data Privacy and Data Classification Training
This training is presented in two modules labeled Data Privacy and Data Classification, and takes under 20 minutes to complete. It focuses on individuals’ role in data privacy, Northeastern’s privacy principles, and the university’s unique way of safeguarding data, the Data Classification Guidelines.
Insider Threats and Controlled Unclassified Information Training
In compliance with the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification, faculty and staff who store, process, or transmit Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) are required to complete the Insider Threats and Controlled Unclassified Information Training on an annual basis through the university’s security education platform, Proofpoint.
Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification Role-Based Training
All staff with significant security responsibilities supporting the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) program are required to complete the CMMC Role-Based Training on an annual basis through the university’s learning management system, Canvas.

Security Requests
Request dedicated reviews with a security professional for your new project, vendor relationship, and more.
Security Architecture Review
Ensure a particular system or network architecture is compliant with the university’s security requirements.
Vendor Compliance Review
All Northeastern vendors must meet adequate security, privacy, and accessibility requirements.
Vulnerability Management
All university assets should be regularly scanned to address and remediate vulnerabilities.
