Cybersecurity Training

Faculty and Staff Trainings

As part of Northeastern’s program to enhance cybersecurity, protect institutional data, and safeguard personal data, all university employees are responsible for completing information security training regularly. Cybersecurity training is assigned as a part of employment onboarding and then on an annual basis.

  • Security Essentials: Review common security threats and best practices.
  • Northeastern Data Classification: Learn how to identify and classify sensitive university data.
  • Northeastern Data Privacy: Gain insights into key practices for protecting information.

Most university employees can access their cybersecurity trainings through Workday Learning. Others can access training through Proofpoint, the university’s third-party security education platform.

CMMC Training

As part of Northeastern’s Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) Program, and in compliance with federal research regulations, all members of the university community involved with federal research initiatives are required to complete Insider Threats and Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) training annually.
